Direct Audio Input
A direct audio input or DAI is simply the ability to directly connect a hearing aid to another device, usually through a wire. This direct connection can reduce the electromagnetic interference (EMI) that can occur with
telecoils.
It becomes an important feature for those that use a phone around other devices that emit electromagnetic interference such as a computer or even heavy machinery. The wires that connect the device to the hearing aid are usually shielded so they don't act as an antenna picking up other signals or radio transmissions. A DAI is often a feature of the
behind-the-ear
(BTE) hearing aids.
