Hearing Aid Reviews

I bought my first digital hearing aid from Starkey. It is a Mesa digital BTE and I have been extremely disappointed in the quality of the hearing aid and in the service received trying to have it repaired. I paid $1550.47 for it and have only barely been able to tolerate wearing it for the 10 months out of the 28 months I have owned it. I have worn a hearing aid for 36 years now since I was 4 years old and I know how they operate and I know when I have a very poor product. I am unable to function without my hearing aid and I must work. I sincerely wish I had gone with my original choice of brand, which was Phonak. My old analog Phonak is still working and I am wearing it now and have had it for 15 years. I bought it in 1992. I guess I will stay with what I know from now on. The best place for this worthless Starkey I have is the trash can. Thank you.

My advice for those wearing a hearing aid for the first time is to give it time. It will take your ear at least 6 months to adjust to the aid. Your ear will be painful for a while. But don't give up. The benefits of the hearing aid far outweigh the pain and discomfort of getting used to one. Also do some research and make sure the type of hearing aid you choose is best for your type of hearing loss. Each person is different and so is the reason for the hearing loss and the frequency of sounds you hear are different from person to person.
